Common Visa Mistakes

Making mistakes is something that most people consider inevitable but when it comes to visa application, avoiding these mistakes is essential in having a successful visa application. If you make mistakes when applying for a visa, your application may get rejected. In this post, we will point out some common mistakes and how to avoid making them.

Incomplete or Inaccurate Application: a visa is what grants you access to travel and live in another country. Countries are very careful about who they let into their countries. They try to regulate the immigration of people into their country. So, they pay attention to the littlest of details. When filling out a visa application, ensure to put in accurate information, don’t leave any blank spaces or important information. It should include your personal details, travel itinerary and contact information.

Insufficient Supporting Documents: A lot of people are interested in traveling out of the country but sometimes they do not have some important documents like Proof of Funds(POF), travel insurance and travel plan which are very important. These documents show you are financially capable to take care of yourself during your stay in a particular country. Ensure you are able to provide all these documents as it shows your eligibility for a visa. Some people may ask, Is POF needed for a work visa? Yes, it is. They want to ensure you have some means of sustenance before your first payroll.

Invalid or Expired Passport: Check the validity of your passport before applying for a visa. Your passport should be valid for at least six months beyond your intended stay. Don’t apply for a visa if your passport has a few months to expire or has expired already. This can lead to your application being rejected. Consider renewing your passport if it’s close to expiration.

Lack of clear Travel Plans: Provide your travel itinerary clearly showing your flight reservation, accommodation arrangements and insurance. Your travel plans show intentions to comply with the terms of your visa. This increases your visa success chances.

Suspicious Information: Before applying for a visa ensure you have complete and accurate documents. One of the reasons most visa applicants get rejected is due to falsified information. Submit documents or information that can be backed up with proof. One important document always scrutinized is the bank draft (POF).

Eligibility Requirements: In one of our previous posts, we explained the types of visas. Each has its own requirements, although there are some requirements that are needed in all, for example international passport and bank draft. If you are applying for a study visa, you should have a letter of acceptance, evidence of school fees payments and other educational qualifications.

Failure to Provide Required Documents: Ensure you provide all necessary documents during your visa application and interview. If they ask for a particular document, you are expected to provide but if you are unable they may term you ineligible and reject your application. Always double-check to see if all your information is accurate before submitting.

When applying for a visa, ensure you avoid all these mistakes as it would increase your chances of a successful application and visa approval. Double-check and review your application always before submitting.
